Approach to Sustainability and Sustainability Initiatives

Sustainability (General)

We will steadily implement initiatives to enhance corporate value while also balancing investments for growth and the strengthening of the Company's management foundation with a long-term vision. The initiatives include creating new business opportunities by addressing important sustainability issues (material issues), promoting DX that allows us to implement accommodations for the COVID-19 era as well as the endemic COVID-19 era, promoting new work styles such as telecommuting, developing human resources which are the greatest management resource in a trading company, and establishing a sophisticated governance system as a basis for the Company's operations.

Sustainability Governance

Our Sustainability Management Committee, an advisory body to the President, formulates basic policies and manages matters related to the key material issues, including deliberating important matters such as the identification and assessment of risks and opportunities supervised by the Board of Directors. The Sustainability Management Committee includes the heads of business units and administrative divisions, and has established a system to make appropriate management decisions regarding important management issues and ensure that management promptly reflects the results of its decisions.
Prior to deliberations by the Sustainability Management Committee, a Climate Change Working Group comprised of members from each business unit identifies and assesses risks and opportunities related to each issue.
