Human Capital

Initiatives for Human Capital Management
We understand that human capital is an important management resource. We will therefore strive to accumulate human capital.
We seek to survive the global competition and achieve sustainable growth by helping employees make full use of our accumulated technologies and knowledge.

Human Resource Development Policy

We will continue to work on human resource development to permit each employee to play active roles as professional human resources. At the same time, we will provide expansive opportunities to our diverse workforce to play active roles, as they take on challenges of the future.

  • We will approach employee development with the mindset that human resources are our most important management resource.
  • We will create a structure for development that permits employees to continue taking on challenges to improve their own value as professionals.
  • We will provide employees with opportunities to learn voluntarily.

Our definition of “professional human resources”

Each employee continuing to develop the capabilities and knowledge they need for business while achieving the comprehensive personal development needed to think and act independently, autonomous, independent human resources able to respond to changes in the environment

Example of Initiative

Our training system consists of job-class-specific training and specialized training for employees in their respective duties, so as to support all employees in their personal development.
We have also introduced overseas training that gives employees a sense of global business, as well as a subsidy program for supporting their personal development. We therefore provide learning opportunities for encouraging each employee's initiative.

Diversity & Inclusion

“Respect diversity to help build a sustainable society and become a company which can achieve growth.”

Initiatives and Action Plans

We position “improving labor productivity”, “active roles for diverse human resources”, and “health promotion” at the core, and they are all closely related. We therefore adopt initiatives from the perspective of total optimization.
In addition, an action plan has been formulated and specific measures are being considered and introduced.

In order to actively support employees who are balancing work and childcare, we are promoting the use and enhancement of various systems, including staggered working hours, work-from-home, and shorter working hours, as well as encouraging male employees to take childcare leave.

Health promotion

  • Complying with labor-related laws and regulations and establishing a Health and Safety Committee
  • Taking measures to prevent harassment and providing mental health care
  • Encouraging employees to take paid leave and introducing measures to control excessive work hours
  • Supporting health improvement

We are working to create an environment that encourages employees to take leave, for example, by awarding teams that achieve their target for taking paid leave. We also provide sports support subsidies to employees to promote their health.

Responsible Procurement (Supply Chain Sustainability)

The cooperation of all stakeholders, including our business partners, is essential for our corporate activities, and we believe that promoting initiatives throughout the supply chain in cooperation with them is important for the establishment of a sustainable society.
The Toyota Tsusho Group, the corporate group that we belong to, has built diverse global value chains and it believes that sustainability and CSR that consider human rights, labor environments and the natural environment must be promoted to ensure the sustainability of the entire supply chain in each region. Based on this belief, it has established the Supply Chain Sustainability Behavioral Guidelines. As a member of the Toyota Tsusho Group, we will practice these Behavioral Guidelines.

We share the Supply Chain Sustainability Behavioral Guidelines with our business partners, including suppliers, and request that they practice the guidelines.
Moving forward, we will increase our communication with our business partners to monitor the status of the implementation of the guidelines.
In the event of a serious violation of the guidelines by a business partner, we request that the business partner improve and continue to ask them to understand and observe the guidelines through activities such as providing instructions and support as necessary.

Social Contribution Activities

Approach to Social Contribution Activities

Tomen Devices believes it is our corporate responsibility to contribute to society as "a good corporate citizen" and we aim to contribute to the realization of a prosperous society through our business activities and also by actively engaging in social contribution activities.

Examples of our activities

■ Participating in "Tokyo Greenship Action"Environment

"Tokyo Greenship Action" is an activity which companies, NPOs and Tokyo Metropolitan Government collaborate to work on green space conservation. In May 2024, employees of Tomen Devices and their families gathered in Hachioji Tatemachi Green Space Conservation Area to take part in this activity. In this activity, participants not only work to preserve the green space, but also learn about biodiversity by observing plants and other living creatures that inhabit the area. By doing so, we aim to nurture participants' interest in nature and raise their awareness of the need to protect the natural environment.

■ Participating in "Furugi de Vaccine" (secondhand clothes and vaccine )EnvironmentSocial

"Furugi de Vaccine" program is a joint project of Japan Reuse System and Vaccines for the World’s Children Japan Committee. By purchasing the special collection kits and send in secondhand items such as clothing, Japan Reuse System will export those items to developing countries and sell them locally. The collection kits are designed by artists with disabilities, and preparation of the kits is done at welfare workshop. This program is not only to help protect the environment by reusing secondhand items but also creating employment both in Japan and in developing countries. In addition, for each kit purchased, three or five polio vaccines will be donated to children in developing countries through Vaccines for the World's Children Japan Committee.

■ Sending Gift Tickets (theater tickets) of Bungakuza to childrenSocial

In recent years, one of the social issues in Japan is the “education gap,” which is the difference in education depending on the environment in which a child was born and raised. However, this gap is not only in learning opportunities, but also in the opportunities to experience things that foster the "ability to survive in society," such as initiative, cooperation, creativity, and problem-solving skills. As an effort to address the social issue of the “experience gap” for children, we support the “Gift Tickets”(theater ticket) sold by Bungakuza. Through a children's support group, we gave tickets and transportation to the theater to children who, for various reasons, do not have the opportunity to experience theater.
